Marketing Consultant, Writer & Creative Thinker
Hello! I’m Kia Cranwell and I’ve been working in the built environment, interiors and property sectors for 20 years (which makes me sound much older than I feel).
Whether I’m developing multichannel marketing strategies and campaign plans, writing articles, websites, blogs, guides and books, or training teams on creative thinking, I love what I do – which is probably why I’m still doing it after all these years.
Property marketing expertise
After studying marketing, psychology and English, I began my marketing career in the fast-paced advertising agency world.
I worked across industry but my passion took me in the direction of property, where I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible interior designers, furniture makers, green building contractors, property companies, start-ups and a few well-known brands in the built environment including NHBC, Persimmon, TDS, Saint Gobain, Bisley and more (if you’d like to see feedback from my past clients, you can read their reviews here).
As my involvement in the property sector grew, so did my interest in building, interiors and sustainability.
I love to write about it, talk about it, teach it and build it!
Passionate about spaces
I am passionate about healthy buildings and interiors – from a human and environmental perspective, and I have a deep interest in sustainability and design.
It all began when I was running a marketing agency. My Creative Director and I were lucky to find an incredible historic building for our workspace. It was much too big for our agency’s needs so we did it up – and learnt a lot about building refurbishment and interior design in the process.
We turned that neglected women’s airforce building into a beautiful, bright coworking space and office with art gallery and event space – from the ground up. It was then that my interest in interior design really took hold, as I delved into every aspect of a healthy, inspirational work space – both in the home and office.
That workspace was one of the first and longest running co-working spaces in the UK.
I’ve since worked with some incredible designers, architects and consultants who are committed to building sustainable homes and offices, and creating interiors that benefit our health and protect the future of our planet – as well as beautifying it.
Staying ahead of the curve
Marketing and the digital world of content is a fast-moving beast. Google continues to keep us on our SEO toes. New techniques, apps, platforms and insights appear at an incredible speed. Keeping up with it all takes time.
I love to learn – which is a good job, really. In fact, I haven’t stopped learning since my first degree. Since then, to feed my insatiable appetite for knowledge, I’ve gained another degree, collected a few professional certificates and continued to stay on top of trends in marketing, behaviour and design.
I haven’t just jumped into this career off the back of a popular Instagram feed or blog – I’m an experienced writer, trainer and marketing professional who knows what works (and what doesn’t) in content marketing and communications.
What does all this mean for you?
My expertise in digital marketing, content strategy, communications and copywriting combined with my almost-obsessive interest and experience in interior design and property means that you’re getting much more than just an experienced strategist and wordsmith…
You’re benefiting from a switched-on marketer and experienced writer who’s been where you are, understands your industry, knows what works and shares your passion.
For two decades I’ve worked with business owners and decision-makers, helping them to grow their ideas, initiatives and brands with the right words, marketing strategy and positioning.
That’s my story. I’d love to hear (and write about) yours. Please get in touch and tell me all about your business and where you’d like to take it – and I’ll help you get there.
